The ₹30,213 crore issue of Jio Platforms, the Reliance company that runs Jio’s mobile and digital businesses, is open to retail investors from Wednesday, October 21, to Friday, October 23, 2026. What happened in the anchor round
On October 19, Jio Platforms raised about ₹8,110 crore from 212 anchor investors at the upper price of ₹1,119 a share, according to Outlook Money. Reports said the anchor book drew bids worth more than ₹2.5 lakh crore, over 30 times the shares on offer, with large global funds and sovereign investors among the buyers. Anchor investors are large institutions that commit money a day before the public issue opens, and their demand is often read as an early signal of interest.
Grey market premium today
The grey market premium (GMP) was about ₹243 to ₹247 a share on October 20, roughly 22% above the upper price band, according to IPO trackers. That points to an indicative listing price of around ₹1,360. But the GMP is an unofficial, unregulated number. It changes daily and can fall sharply before listing, so it should not be the main reason to apply.
How to apply for the Jio IPO
- Through your broker app: open the IPO section, pick Jio Platforms, enter the number of lots and your bid price, and approve the UPI mandate on your phone.
- Through net banking (ASBA): most banks let you apply from the investments or IPO section; the money stays blocked in your account until allotment.
- Bid at the cut-off price if you are a retail investor, so your bid is valid at whatever final price is set.
- Approve the UPI mandate quickly. Bids that are not approved before the cut-off time are rejected.
- Reliance shareholders: a separate shareholder quota has been reported. If you held Reliance Industries shares on the record date, check whether you can also bid in that category.
Things to keep in mind
A big name does not guarantee listing gains, and a heavily oversubscribed issue means many retail applicants will not get any shares. Allotment for retail investors is usually done by lottery, one lot per successful applicant. Read the risks section of the prospectus, decide how much you can afford to keep invested if the shares fall after listing, and avoid borrowing to apply.
